Presıdent Eroglu Met Un Aide

President Dervis Eroglu met with the United Nations Secretary General’s Special Advisor on Cyprus Alexander Downer, in the last phase of inter communal talks aimed at solving the Cyprus Problem.

Last time the two met was at the two day tripartite meeting with the presence of UNSG and Greek Cypriot Leader Demetris Christofias at Greentree, a country estate near New York, aimed at making convergences on some of the disputed issues remained to be solved for a comprehensive settlement on the island.

Following the meeting the Special Envoy to Cyprus Downer, said the two leaders must not necessarily meet often nevertheless they should possess constructive ideas when they did.

The talks between the leaders should resume soon since the UNSC ask the leaders to exchange data on the conflicted issues and depending on progress he said he could call for a multilateral meeting including the guarantor powers UK, Greece and UK.

The UNSG Aide stressed during a press gathering at Greentree that the aim for a solution should be 1 July, the day Greek Cypriot Administration assumes the EU Presidency.
